Increasing numbers of academics and researchers are organising, publicising and promoting public facing events based on their research, both in and out of the academy. Academic research can provide the basis for a fascinating and popular occasion; however, producing an event can prove to be a daunting task particularly to inexperienced event organisers. In response to this, The Culture Capital Exchange ran an informal and informative session aimed at taking the stress out of organising public events.

Rules of Engagement – How to Produce Events provided a basic checklist that could be applied to events ranging from a simple talk to a multifaceted conference. Following this well received knowledge exchange event, TCCE, by popular demand, went out to Universities and gave bespoke workshops surrounding different elements of event production. These tailored sessions included one for alumni of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, one for the steering committee of the PhD Graduate Festival at Queen Mary, and one for Graphics students at Kingston University.

Contributors/Speakers: Suzie Leighton, Co-Director, TCCE; Georgina Potts, Senior Manager, TCCE.
