Event Details

Date:
31st March, 2011
Time:
09:30 - 12:30
Venue:
The British Academy, 10 Carlton House Terrace, SW1Y 5AH

LCACE invited members of their network to attend an information, discussion and networking event on the funding available from Trusts and Foundations, and their priorities for engagement in Higher Education. The event began with a Higher Education perspective on the funds available from Trusts and Foundations in the current climate. This was followed by representatives from a range of Trusts and Foundations who outlined the ways in which they work with Higher Education and the kinds of research and collaborative projects they support, with an emphasis on the arts. Case-studies from academics and practitioners were also provided, and the event created a forum to find out about the future priorities of the presenting organisations. The event presented a timely opportunity for academics and other members of university staff to access an overview of the priorities of key trusts and foundations, learn about contemporary research projects supported by trusts or foundations and network with colleagues.

Contributors/Speakers: Dr Ken Emond, Head of Research Awards, The British Academy; Jean Cater, Assistant Director, The Leverhulme Trust; Dale Cooper, Head of Trusts and Foundations fundraising, King’s College, London; Professor Janet Harbord, QMUL, recipient of a Leverhulme Award; Professor Brian Hurwitz, KCL, recipient of a Wellcome Trust award.
