‘I’m afraid. To make a promise. Because I don’t know who’ll be making it. I’m a stranger to my life.’
Quentin, a New York lawyer, is tormented by self-doubt. After two disastrous marriages, he wonders if he has any right to a third? With a new girlfriend arriving soon, he decides to fight the demons in his head – his domineering mother, his frustrated first wife, his best friend whom he betrayed, and above all, Maggie, his second wife who died of fame, alcohol and drugs – in order to find out who he truly is.
