Directors Scott Stroman, Liz Swain and Clare Wheeler lead the Guildhall Induction Jazz Orchestra and Induction Jazz Choir in a performance welcoming new musicians to the Jazz Course in collaboration with award-winning singer-pianist Liane Carroll, featuring songs from her critically acclaimed 2015 album Seaside with arrangements by Guildhall School’s Head of Jazz, Malcolm Edmonstone.
Hastings based Liane Carrollhas been a pillar of the British jazz and soul scene for over thirty-five years and has dedicated her career to creating a deep and abiding connection with audiences all over the world through her exceptional talent, versatility and ability to truly interpret a song. Carroll has collaborated with such diverse artists as Paul McCartney, Gerry Rafferty, Long John Baldry, Ian Shaw, Claire Martin OBE and drum and bass outfit London Elektricity. Caroll’s five most recent albums (Slow Down, Up and Down, Ballads, Seaside, The Right To Love) all earned a four star review in The Guardian.
The first half of the concert will feature smaller Jazz Ensembles performing together for the first time to mark the end of a week-long induction project working on arrangements with Guildhall Jazz tutors.
