This seminar will explore the social, economic and health inequalities experienced by people with learning disabilities in the UK, and how the COVID-19 pandemic has made these inequalities worse.

This overview will include information on education, social care and health services, health inequalities (including mortality) before and during COVID-19, and interim findings from an ongoing UK research project about the experiences of people with learning disabilities through the pandemic.

Professor Christopher Hattin
Department of Social Care and Social Work, Manchester Metropolitan University

Professor Christopher Hattin has been involved in research with people with learning disabilities for over 30 years, including a stint as Co-Director of the Public Health England Learning Disabilities Public Health Observatory.
