Paul Sternberg, Ravensbourne’s Director of Postgraduate Studies, talks to Sean Doran, one of the most widely acclaimed Artistic Directors and animators of Cultural Festivals across the world.
With the guiding principles of Ravensbourne’s new Institute for Creativity and Technology providing a framework for the discussion, Sean talks about how as Artistic Director of the English National Opera, he spearheaded the move to bring opera to the Glastonbury Festival culminating in one of the highlights of the Festival in its entire history.
Sean also talks about how Festivals are commissioned, how they can contribute to creating a sense of civic pride and participation, and the process needed for turning a vision into a mass participation global event.
