“Race is real because we perceive it. Racism is real because we enact it. Neither race nor racism has foundation in science. But the appeal to science to strengthen racist ideologies is on the rise – and increasingly part of the public discourse on politics, migration, education, sport and intelligence” – Adam Rutherford
LSBU are delighted to host this ‘In conversation with…’ Adam Rutherford, science writer and broadcaster, as part of Black History Month 2020 at LSBU, to speak about his book ‘How to Argue With a Racist‘. The book is described as ‘a vital manifesto for a twenty-first century understanding of human evolution and variation, this is a timely weapon against the misuse of science to justify bigotry‘.
This is a great opportunity to hear Adam talk about his book & as we discuss its importance with him in light of the Black Lives Matter movement and the conversations around systemic racism taking place around the globe. There will also be a chance to ask Adam any questions you might have.
