Students studying music management courses at the University of London (UWL) will now also be able to pick up professional certificates in management and leadership after the courses were accredited by the influential Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
This is the first time any music management courses have received professional accreditation and it will mean students will also be able to access the CMI’s Careers Development Centre, Mentoring Services and Online Resource Portal.
Dr Paul Oliver, Course Leader at London College of Music (LCM), part of UWL, said:
At LCM we are passionate about music but we’re equally passionate about getting our graduates rewarding careers in the industry. By working with the CMI our students will have access to great resources and will graduate with a certificate that demonstrates the strategic management and leaderships skills they have developed with us.
Lucrezia Perletti, studying an MA in Music Industry Management & Artist Development, said:
I’ve loved every minute of my course and this accreditation is just another way that UWL is supporting us to make a career in the music industry.
Students studying for an MA Music Industry Management and Artist Development and BA Music Management will be awarded a CMI Level 7 (MA) or Level 5 (BA) Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership respectively.
