The Life explores the underbelly of street life in 1980s New York; a time when crime was rife and the Aids epidemic was about to hit the city.
In this musical, Queen, Sonja and Mary – three street workers use what they’ve got, to make ends meet against the odds. The women form strong bonds of friendship and finally take back control of their lives.
The Life opened on Broadway in April 1997 directed by Michael Blakemore and won two Tonys and three Drama Desk Awards.
