Course launch: Mindfulness for Performers

GuildhallSchool Red

This practical evening course has been specifically developed at Guildhall School to support musicians and actors in their lives and creative work. Through meditation and re-connecting with the body, participants can learn how to bring awareness to the present moment and relate differently with stress, anxiety and depression.

This 8-week course will explore themes such as stepping out of automatic pilot, working with obstacles including self-criticism and performance anxiety and learn how to cultivate stage presence.

About the course tutor

Eliza McCarthy is a pianist specializing in contemporary music living and working in London. As an ensemble member she can be heard performing with Decibel and Crash Ensemble and as a soloist works closely with composers including Mica Levi, Donnacha Dennehy, Andrew Hamilton and Tansy Davies.

Alongside her career as a performer she has been a practitioner of Mindfulness meditation for 15 years and has a strong interest in how mindfulness can support artistic practices.
