Loughborough University London welcomes new Institute for Media and Creative Industries Director

Professor Thomas Tufte has been appointed as Director for the Institute for Media and Creative Industries at Loughborough University London.

Professor Tufte is an internationally leading scholar in the field of communication for social change. His expertise and experience lie in critically exploring the interrelations between media production, communicative practices and processes of social and structural change.

Between 1992 and 2017, Professor Tufte has led seven international research projects in his field and has sat on numerous editorial boards. Professor Tufte has worked in approximately 30 countries worldwide and has collaborated with a broad range of international development corporations including UNICEFUNESCO, and the Rockefeller Foundation.

Professor Tufte works in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Danish and his current research collaborations span countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and Europe. Professor Tufte is well acquainted with teaching in many different cultural settings having throughout his career taught as well as developed curricula in communication for development and social change. He has taught modules on postgraduate programmes in Albania, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Mozambique, Paraguay, South Africa, Sweden, and the UK.
