BA (Hons) Digital Film graduate Arran Green was awarded a Student Television Award in the “Craft Skills – Camera” category for final major project film “Fear the Unknown Man” by Director and fellow graduate Luke Shelley.

The Royal Television Society (RTS) Student Television Awards held at ITV Studios, recognise the best audiovisual work and excellence in craft by students at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Work that shows outstanding visual and aural creativity, a mastery of craft skills, innovation, initiative and storytelling.

Arran said: “It feels fantastic to receive this award and to have all of our hard work and effort recognised.

“I was thrilled when Luke asked me to shoot his final major project, it was a pleasure working alongside him and all of the fantastic crew. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them, filmmaking is a collaborative process after all!

“Some of our tutors were very inspiring and keen to helps us showcase our work. We were encouraged to enter our films into festivals and competitions.

“I feel my time at Ravensbourne has prepared me for working in the film industry by giving me the opportunity to gain hands on experience working with industry partners. The most important thing I have taken from my time on the course was the ability to meet and collaborate with fellow students that I intend to work with throughout the rest of my career.”

Andrea Gauld, BBC Producer and Chair of the RTS London Student Awards 2017, said: “Students are the future of our industry.

“The range and quality of many of the entries were equal, if not better, than a lot of what gets broadcast on our televisions every night and I offer huge congratulations to this year’s winners, nominees, and of course, to their tutors, whose help and guidance is immeasurable.”
