Join Dr Alan Mace to debate the purpose of the Metropolitan Green Belt, its future form in the context of the current housing needs and the issues of collaboration between authorities

On 12 December, the Division of Urban, Environment and Leisure Studies welcomes Dr Alan Mace, Assistant Professor in Urban Planning Studies at the London School of Economics. He will talk to LSBU students and staff and to external academics and PhDs on the Metropolitan Green Belt over a working lunch.

Dr Alan Mace has worked as a spatial planner in London where for a number of years he combined practice and academic work. He has considerable experience of community involvement in major planning applications and policy development. He has carried out policy-focused research on second homes for the Welsh Assembly Government and the Countryside Agency, and on internal space standards in England and Italy (funded by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors). Alan is also interested in governance and planning, and is currently part of a research team funded by the Norwegian Government to look at the decision-making process informing the outcomes of compact city initiatives.
