London International Sinfonia Choir
Conductor: Peter Knapp
We are recruiting a choir to perform with the existing orchestra, The London International Sinfonia, which will perform initially 3 to 4 times a year in London venues and offer a wide-ranging repertoire, presented in a unique and engaging way. If you have sung previously in a choir or studied singing, you are invited to attend a workshop in which Peter Knapp, himself a very experienced singer, conductor and voice trainer, will introduce you to his basic training approach. In the session he will focus on posture, breathing and the natural creation of sound which will instantly enhance the power, range, quality and stamina of your voice. The session will also involve a short, individual, informal audition.
Saturday 19th March 10.00am – 1.00pm
Upper Vestry Hall, St George’s Bloomsbury, Little Russell Street, WC1A 2HR
Fee: £10
Bring a change of loose clothes as the session will involve a certain amount of gentle stretching and identifying of muscles.
Singing in the Choir will not only offer the thrill of being involved in live performance with orchestra, every rehearsal will provide expert guidance in improving your vocal sound and your expression of text and feeling.
Peter Knapp, as well as enjoying a long and distinguished career as a conductor and singer, teaches voice and dramatic performing skills at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance as well as at the Drama Centre at Central St Martin’s.
Rehearsals for the newly-formed Choir will commence the week of 18th April with a view to the Choir’s performing in a midsummer concert in the second half of June. The proposed individual subscription for the 10-rehearsal + performance project will be £50.
If you would like to attend the workshop and audition please complete the CHOIR form and submit by Friday 11th March.
