Synopsis

‘With one particular horse, called Nugget, he embraces.’

A boy blinds six horses with a metal spike. What happened that night? What could drive someone to such an act of terror?

Shaffer’s contemporary-classic Equus uses a random act of violence to explore issues of faith, sanity, pain and passion.

This award-winning theatrical masterpiece was first staged at the National Theatre in 1973, and became one of the great post war plays of the twentieth century.

The play contains adult themes.
