You may know the Wallace Collection as a national museum encompassing works by Titian, Velazquez, Rubens, princely armour, and French 18th century art. But did you know that it has been a source of inspiration for artists and designers for over 100 years?

Many of Britain’s most acclaimed artists such as Damien Hirst and designers like Vivienne Westwood have responded to the diverse collection. Now, on 6 March 2015 it’s the turn of University of the Arts to make their mark: UAL Student Takeover.

This will be a distinctive night of performances, talks, one-off displays and installations, drinks and live music -all capturing the energy and magic of the Wallace Collection. Highlights include bringing 18th century French leisure back to life through slow fashion salons. 3D printed explorations of decorative motifs within the collection plus a series of performances themed around the contentious composition of Jean-Honoré Fragonard’s The Swing. The Wallace Restaurant will host a live band whilst offering a popular selection of bar snacks and drinks.

So whether you wish to relax, socialise, drink or just absorb some astounding works of art, the UAL Student Takeover is an amazing opportunity to get your weekend off to a great start.
