Join Trinity Laban’s acclaimed Composition Department for an evening of new music inspired by the National Portrait Gallery’s exhibition, Sargent: Portraits of Artists and Friends, a major display of over seventy portraits celebrating the work of John Singer Sargent, the greatest portrait painter of his generation.

The exhibition features intimate and experimental portraits of leading artists, writers, actors and musicians of the time, spanning Sargent’s life in London, Paris and Boston, as well as his travels in the Italian and English countryside. The new compositions will offer a variety of new interpretations and soundscapes inspired by the exhibition.

Audiences are encouraged to visit the exhibition ahead of this concert to familiarise themselves with the artist’s work. The new works will be performed in the Gallery’s concert hall by Trinity Laban’s Contemporary Music Group, directed by Gregory Rose.
