Weber Der Freischütz J 277 Overture
Beethoven Symphony No 5 in C minor Op 67
Featuring orchestral students alongside professional teaching staff, conductors James Ham and Jonathan Tilbrook direct our fourth Side-By-Side concert this academic year with a journey into German national identity during the 19th century.
Weber’s Overture from Der Freischütz – a work considered to be the first important German romantic opera – opens the programme. Trinity Laban Symphony Orchestra then performs Beethoven’s Symphony No 5 in C minor – a piece widely considered to bridge the gap between the classical and romantic eras.
