7th February, 2014 / 11.00am - 4.00pm
30th January, 2015
Please note: This event is exclusively for TCCE member academics and professional staff.
As some of you will be aware, last year we curated our inaugural Walking Weekend which featured a brilliant and eclectic range of walks in London led by academics and researchers from across the TCCE partnership institutions. We were delighted with the success of last year’s weekend and as a result we are planning to incorporate this activity into our annual programme of events.
As such we are delighted to invite academics/researchers from TCCE member organisations who might be interested in leading a walk to attend our Getting Involved – TCCE Annual Walking Weekend 2015 Information Event, details of which are above.
The purpose of the event will be primarily to provide an opportunity to hear from some of those who led on walks during last year’s Walking Weekend, including Dr Nadia Valman (Queen Mary), Lizzi Kew Ross and Mary Ann Hushlak (Trinity Laban), Dr Tamara Atkin (Queen Mary) and Fran Gallardo (Queen Mary). Last year’s walks took place in King’s Cross, Whitechapel, Shoreditch, Mile End, Farringdon and the City with themes including: Public Lettering and Typography, Developing a Phenological Clock, Cinema and Migration, The Lost Theatres of Shakespeare’s London, Locating King’s Cross, Jewish Immigrant life in London’s East End, Walking and Reading. The event will also to give you the chance to discuss with us your ideas for your own walk as well as to have a chance for those of you who are newer to TCCE to meet with us and find out more about our work.
To book, please email info@tcce.co.uk with the subject ‘Getting Involved – TCCE Annual Walking Weekend 2015’ in the subject line. We will issue an agenda to attendees a few days before the event.
We will be considering proposals on any topic and from any discipline that will either be of interest to a general audience in London or that will alternatively enable researchers a space in which to explore walking as a new methodology for research. The deadline for Expressions of Interest for those wishing to take part in our Annual Walking Weekend is 5pm, Friday 20th February 2015. The annual walking weekend itself will be taking place in April 2015.
Do be in touch with our General Manager, Georgina Potts for the application details if you would like to submit an Expression of Interest but are unable to attend above event. Her email is georgina@tcce.co.uk
