Paul Farrington

Graphic Designer


2000 – 2011

Following graduation from the Royal College of Art in 1998, Paul worked for Meta Design, and the Computer Related Design department at the Royal College of Art – designing books for their publishing unit. Following this, he then went to work at Hollingtons Interactive and created interactive games and digital artworks for the Science Museum. In 2000 he established his own design studio and in his first year was given the title of Graphic Design Creative Future by Creative Review magazine.

Then, in 2002 he was awarded an Interactive Bafta for the creation of an interactive music website for GridClub, commissioned by Channel 4 and the Department for Education and Sport.

As well as client work, he has always continued to explore his own projects and ideas. In 2003, a series of digital music projects were published and reviews from The Wire magazine announced Paul as an “Interactive software visionary”. This led to commissions from artists such as Moby, Depeche Mode, Simon Fisher Turner, Mute Records and 4AD to create websites, soundtoys and produce research concepts on what it meant for music to be accessed and enjoyed in the digital format.

With an increasingly eclectic output, Paul’s ethos is all about good ideas and appropriate, forward-thinking responses to a wide range of briefs and clients. Throughout 2003 – 2011, he created infographics for the Association of Computer Machinery; educational music apps for Channel 4; visualizing LinkedIn networks for Fortune Magazine; book design for IDEO/PRADA; a 196 metre artwork and modular furniture system for Imperial College; creating the ITV global language, designing and building a virtual hotel for Moby, plotting health data in America for Wired Magazine; designing digital fish tanks for the NHS; a 3D Pop up story making website for Penguin Books; the global campaign illustration for the Blackberry launch on Vodafone and also a wide of range of identities and projects. In 2011, he was awarded a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and a new creative journey began, bringing freelance commissions from ITV, Zone and the Nike Foundation.
