Talented students from Trinity Laban’s jazz department will perform at London’s famous jazz venue, Ronnie Scott’s, in a night featuring sets by both the Trinity Laban Contemporary Jazz Ensemble and the Trinity Jazz Ensemble.
The Trinity Laban Contemporary Jazz Ensemble is emerging as one of the country’s most exciting young jazz groups. The ensemble received fantastic reviews for concerts at the London Jazz Festival in November when it was joined by special guest Oren Marshall on Tuba. Oren will be joining the group once again along with director, Mark Lockheart, to perform material by Gil Evans, including tracks from Gil’s celebrated albums Svengali and Plays Jimi Hendrix. Also at Ronnie Scott’s, the Trinity Jazz Ensemble will perform music by Thad Jones, Bob Brookmeyer and other composers associated with the Village Vanguard, directed by Malcolm Earle-Smith.
