The London Centre for Arts and Cultural Exchange and The Arts and Humanities Research Council’s programme, Beyond Text: Performances, Sounds, Images, Objects, hosted a series of information events and informal workshops for the Higher Education and Arts and Cultural sectors. Events in the series included workshops for the theatre, dance and live arts communities, and interested academics. The sessions explored how the sectors could participate in academic research and access academic funding, investigated the specifics of the Beyond Text Programme and discussed methods in which artists and academics could work in partnership. The series included practical seminars on expressing ideas in applications to academic programmes and scheduled opportunities for “Partnership Pitches”, during which delegates seeking academic or artistic partners could give an overview of their research or project to the group of attendees. The Beyond Text Series attracted an exceptional mix of academic and artistic practitioners, and provided multiple networking opportunities.
