The London Centre for Arts and Cultural Exchange and the Museums, Libraries and Archives (MLA), London hosted an information sharing and networking event for academics and archivists. The aim of the event was to explore collaborative research possibilities between the universities and archives in London. The event explored existing research projects between the two sectors, highlighted future possibilities, enabled the academic and archive communities to learn about each other’s areas and expertise, and encouraged networking. A diverse range of specialists spoke, and Revisiting Archive Collections, a piece of work undertaken by MLA, London, was presented. Discourses investigated methodologies that could support archivists in opening up their collections to external subject specialists and community groups to reveal, record and share new understanding of the records. The afternoon event ended with a question and answer session, a tour of the King’s College London Archive, and networking drinks.
Contributors/Speakers: Professor Julia Boffey, Queen Mary, University of London; Isabel Rivers, QMUL; Caroline Reed, MLA London; Patricia Methven, KCL archives.
