‘Walking the City’ 2016 – TCCE’s annual walking weekend

The Culture Capital Exchange

Walking the City
Friday 15 April – Sunday 17 April 2016

For the past two years now, The Culture Capital Exchange (TCCE) has hosted an annual walking weekend to bring to wider public attention some of the outstanding work taking place in our universities, giving our members an opportunity to take their stories, knowledge and passion about the capital city out of the lecture theatres and on the streets. The series has seen us explore a diverse range of themes and locations and this year is our biggest yet.

This year’s Walking the City  presents an incredibly diverse range of unusual and inspiring walks led by members of TCCE, taking place between 15 and 17 April, in areas throughout the city including: Elephant & Castle, Regent’s Park, St Paul’s, Westminster, Old Street, Turnpike Lane, Stoke Newington, Whitechapel, North Greenwich, Bloomsbury and Alexandra Palace.

Walk themes include: London’s natural spaces, the Sounds of Early Modern Theatre, a public salon on feminism and criticism, an experimental rush hour walk, a walking workshop with GPS satellites, a World War 1 locative audio experience, poetic places along the Thames, a walking performance and soundscape on immigration and citizenship, also a literary and musical walk through the Jewish immigrant East End, a photo sharing walk on graffiti and street art, and many more.

Programme of Walks

Each walk lasts 60 – 90 minutes. All walks open to the public. Tickets are just £5.

Please note: These walks are not intended for children unless otherwise specified. Please check descriptions for details. If you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
