Join us for this online workshop and networking event where we’ll consider what research commercialisation does or could look like for arts and humanities disciplines.
In this session, we will consider what is meant by ‘commercialisation’ and how this aligns with the understandings and value systems of academics working across Arts and Humanities disciplines. We will debate the benefits and challenges of commercialisation in these disciplines, share examples of good practice, and consider issues of skills, capacity, expertise, engagement, and language.
Natasha Stanton, Senior Investment Manager leading on KE, Translation and Commercialisation activities at the AHRC will join us to speak on approach and priorities. We will also hear from ASPECT to give an overview of the new UKRI SHAPE Catalyst and the ARC Accelerator outlining the opportunities and support offered through these initiatives. Ruth Daniel, CEO, Artistic Director, Activist and Honorary Research Fellow at University of Manchester will present a case study on her award winning social enterprise In Place of War. The workshop will be chaired by Professor Maria Chatzichristodoulou, Associate Dean Research and Enterprise, Kingston School of Art and Convenor of the forum. Further contributors will be announced shortly.
After the workshop, we’ll also be running an informal online speed networking session to help you to connect with peers, and potential partners to move forward your ideas – feel free to participate with a drink of your choice in hand!
