Jackie Groundsell, owner of 1230 The Women’s Company

Known as The Connector, Jackie is the owner of 1230 The Women’s Company, a businesswomen’s network, which over the last 20 years has supported thousands of business owners through her events and training, always knowing someone who can help them move closer to achieving their goals.

Jackie is an international speaker, networker, trainer, mentor, radio show host and owner of leading website Birds on the Blog.

Shikta Das, Genetic Epidemiologist and Data Scientist

Shikta is currently working as a Real-World Evidence Director at AstraZeneca. She is responsible for real-world research, strategic vision, implementation of novel statistical methodology in Oncology. She also has an honorary lecturer in Epidemiology at Medical Research Council LHA, Institute of Cardiovascular Studies, University College London (UCL).

Before joining AstraZeneca, Shikta was a celebrated academic, joined pharmaceutical giant Roche, did a short stint as a freelance Data analytics consultant and worked as a Genetic Lead at C4X Discovery.

Shikta also contributed to the reports on BBC London News website about disproportional BAME deaths in the COVID-19 pandemic. She has regularly invited by LBC radio to speak on Covid and ethnicity related issues during the pandemic. TV network Al Jazeera, South Korean news channel Arirang TV and Channel 5 in UK have invited her to speak about current topics on Covid as an expert epidemiologist.

Shikta also has very successful podcast on mathematical modelling of infectious diseases and on genetic pre-disposition to co-morbidities in BAME.

Shikta was nominated to be a co-chair of the International Development Section of Royal Statistical Society in 2021. The aim of the committee is disseminating good statistical practice internationally.

She is also actively engaged with several non-government organisations, such as AI for Good, to support their COVID-19 research. She has appeared in several diversity interviews and is an active Women in Tech supporter and STEM ambassador.
