Following the recent announcement of Lynne Williams’s retirement, Jonathan Vaughan (currently Vice-Principal and Director of Music) will become Interim Principal of Guildhall School for academic year 21/22 while a recruitment process is underway to appoint Lynne Williams’s successor.

Chair of the Guildhall School’s Board of Governors, Graham Packham, said: ‘I and my fellow Board members are delighted that Jonathan has accepted this invitation to be Interim Principal. This is a critical time in the life of Guildhall School and he will be closely supported by the three Vice Principals – Sean Gregory, Andy Lavender and Orla O’Loughlin – as he works to embed the School’s post-COVID recovery plan and move forward with a number of strategic projects during the next academic year. We very much look forward to working with him.’

Jonathan Vaughan will start immediately in order to ensure a handover can take place before Lynne Williams steps down at the end of August. While he is in post, Armin Zanner, currently Deputy Director of Music and Head of Vocal Studies, will act as Director of Music alongside his post as Head of Vocal Studies.
