Multi-disciplinary artist and Guildhall tutor Paula Varjack curates and hosts the third series of conversations in collaboration with students from the School’s BA Performance and Creative Enterprise (PACE).

In this informal conversation, streamed via Instagram Live, Paula Varjack is joined by Peyvand Sadeghian who discusses her practice and shares advice, experience and ideas with the next generation.

Peyvand is a Performer and Performance Maker making socially engaged work which activates an audience and prompts them to consider the world around them and their place within it. Their work often combines live action with puppetry, projection, and direct address to the audience.

Peyvand trained with the National Youth Theatre GB and studied BA Drama and Theatre Arts (hons) at Goldsmiths College, University of London. Currently she is part of Barbican Theatre Open Lab 2021, and is also expanding her puppetry practice into stop-motion animation with the support of ACE England Develop Your Creative Practice funding.

Other recent projects include: puppeteer in Myths and Adventures from Ancient Greece by Hannah Khalil (Watermans Arts Centre); creator and performer in Dual دوگانه (Vault Festival 2020 Show of the Week award); actor in the Pirates feature film by Reggie Yates (due for release 2021); and performer and collaborator on Rich Kids: History of Shopping Malls in Tehran (Fringe First Award 2019).
