City, University of London was ranked among the top 200 institutions globally for climate action, responsible consumption and reducing inequalities in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking 2021.

City was assessed in seven of the United Nations’ (UN) Global Goals, ranking for all of them in the top 300 to 400 places out of 1,115 universities from 94 different countries.

Now in its third iteration, the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking 2021 included an additional 359 universities compared to the previous year.

The rankings come after City recently published a first-of-its-kind report affirming its commitment to the UN Global Goals.

The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings assessed the global performances of universities against the Global Goals. The rankings use carefully calibrated indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparison across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach and teaching.

This is an important report which shows the influential role higher education organisations can play in creating a more sustainable society and global community.

We have made great strides in our sustainability work and it is encouraging to see our position for taking climate action, reducing inequalities and responsible consumption.

We are committed to the UN’s Global Goals, but we still have plenty to do as we continue our work towards achieving net zero CO2 emissions by 2040.

– Eleanor Simes, Sustainability Officer
