Guildhall School Scholarships Fund Appeal raises over £13,000

GuildhallSchool Red

To support students in these unprecedented times, in September 2020 Guildhall launched a fundraising appeal. This appeal reached out to the community of alumni, donors and fellows, asking them to donate to the School’s Scholarships Fund.

Due to the generosity of donors, the Guildhall School Scholarships Fund has been able to provide financial support to over 44% of the student body, enabling talented students to access our world-class training regardless of their background or circumstances. In the last two years there has been a 19% increase in applications to the Fund and during the pandemic this number has increased even more dramatically, as many have faced a loss of income from family, part-time jobs or freelance work. Demand for scholarships is expected to continue rising with the ongoing impact of Covid-19 and Brexit.

How your support makes a difference

We wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated to the appeal so far.  At the time of writing, we are thrilled to have raised over £13,000 for the Fund. This will really help our students who are struggling financially, to continue their studies despite these challenging times. We are immensely grateful for your support.

“I have been incredibly impressed with how Guildhall have handled the situation this past year. As a result of the financial award granted to me, I have been able to engage in the most stimulating and valuable educational experience of my life.” – Jack, Guildhall Artist Masters (Guitar)

“Two years ago, I would never have thought I could ever train at a leading drama school in London due to my financial situation, but my scholarship has made it possible for me to do this. The school and the training have given me the skills and mindset that my ‘dream’ now feels like a possibility. None of this would be possible for me if I did not have the financial support. I feel so honoured, lucky and grateful.” – Caitlin, Acting

“I am most grateful and honoured to be a scholarship recipient at the Guildhall School. Being able to study at the School has been a truly enriching experience for me, from all the kind students and staff members, to the incredibly welcoming school environment, Guildhall has been my home away from home and I cherish every moment of it. My scholarship has enabled me to lift some of the financial burden off my family, especially in these unprecedented times.” – Johnny Pun, Guildhall Artist Masters (Piano)
