TCCE’s Lunchtime Socials are a space for informal online discussion designed to bring together TCCE academic members, artists and arts and culture sector workers as well as wider publics on issues of contemporary concern.
This event is the latest in our series of virtual lunchtime socials, intended to bring us together in discussion, whilst we remain physically at home. We will focus on climate and the environment, and specifically, consider how academia and the arts can address these issues. It will be preceded by a blog post by designer and artist, Kasia Molga, a designer and artist working on the intersection of art, design, technology and science. Key respondents will then reflect on and reply to the blog post, whilst also sharing their own practice and experience. Finally, attendees more widely will be invited to consider the blog and contribute to the session via a process of collaborative writing and reflection.
Contributors Marc Garrett (Co-Founder, Furtherfield), Pauline Rutter (TCCE Associate) and Dani Ploeger (Royal Central School of Speech and Drama) will respond to the blog post, bringing to bear their own practice and deep experience in this field. Evelyn Wilson (Co-Director, TCCE) will then invite participants to consider both the blog and the wider issues raised by the respondents and to use that to open a conversation about how academia and the arts are already, or might in future, work together on these issues of urgent concern.
The event will be introduced by Dr Gemma Outen, Programme Curator at the Culture Capital Exchange.
