The Heat is On tackles one of the most complex challenges the UK will face in its net-zero ambitions – the decarbonisation of domestic heat.
A panel of industry leaders will examine the fiscal, technological and legacy issues that are shaping the UK’s urgent race to replace domestic gas in order to decarbonise the nation’s heat.
Starting with LSBU’s research into alternative heat systems, we will discuss the various factors and assumptions that are affecting investment in the competing low carbon options at national, regional and domestic level.
Our panel will then take the discussion around the UK, sharing insights into some inspiring trial schemes across a range of technologies, demonstrating how agile, integrated solutions might challenge the way we currently think about the heat conundrum.
As we close with the burning question – Who should pay and who should profit? – we will look at the case for investing in UK-based heat pump manufacture and a national ‘low carbon heat’ skills initiative that could fuel a green revolution.
