This new online course is for anyone with an interest in theatre. Like a book club, every week we will read a pre-assigned play text in our own time and then take part in an online group session.

Extracts will be read aloud with course tutors who will host open, relaxed discussions about the themes, ideas, language, and most importantly all of our responses to the play. We will explore works by Shakespeare, Chekhov, Pinter and more, and bring in experienced actors and directors to discuss how they would go about approaching these texts.

Rather than an academic seminar, this is for anyone who enjoys lively, impassioned and informative conversation, and who would like to gain a deeper knowledge of different genres of theatre. Participants will be encouraged to offer ideas and opinions to the discussions, but with no pressure or expectation. If you would simply enjoy listening, that is welcome too!
