Please join MDX Journalism Conversation Series for a discussion of how economic inequality is being reported and represented by the news media.
Economic inequality has many dimensions, from income and wealth to poverty and lack of social mobility. The UK by nearly all these measures is one of the most unequal countries in the developed world, a situation made worse by 10 years of austerity.
As inequality is on the rise, and is having a a major impact on the political landscape, these concerns have never been more pressing. The news media plays a central role in informing the public and shaping the debate – so how well has it done so far, and what could be done to improve coverage?
Looking forward @JS_Diaspora opening a discussion with stimulus from award winning film #MyNameIs @mynameisdocu on 'Decolonising the self before we can decolonise HE & culture' @RADA_London via @InfoTCCE tomorrow as part of a broader event from 1pm to 3pm.
