Robert Franz composed 51 varied and contrasting settings of love poems written by his close friend Karl Wilhelm Osterwald, resulting in fascinating, bold and lyrical songs unique in the genre of 19th-century German Lieder.
First half – launch of a new CD conceived by Victoria Edge, including talks on the project and performances of selected songs by the CD artists.
Second half – Guildhall musicians led by Marc Verter perform and discuss some of the songs.
