Guildhall School launches range of Coaching & Mentoring courses to commence in Autumn 2019

GuildhallSchool Red

Guildhall School of Music & Drama today announces a range of new coaching and mentoring courses to commence in autumn 2019, accredited by the European Mentoring & Coaching Council (EMCC) and delivered in association with specialist coaching provider, Linden Learning.

Coaching & mentoring is increasingly seen as an essential tool in helping to bridge the gap between potential and performance in the workplace, and reflects Guildhall School’s ethos of supporting, challenging and inspiring growth at a world-class performing arts institution. After seven years of delivering this training primarily to staff and students at Guildhall School and Barbican Centre, developing and honing best practice, the School has now opened its courses to the wider sector.

Guildhall School’s approach combines a dynamic blend of theory and practice with a performative element for effective coaching, including active listening and presence. Purposeful coaching practice in small groups offers a fully rounded learning experience. Guildhall School’s practical approach combined with creative flair aims to nurture participants to reach their potential, and institutions to perform at their best, in an enjoyable yet challenging setting.

Courses are highly interactive, with participants required to bring real-life scenarios that they wish to solve, an approach which is rarely used in the arts but has proved highly effective.

There are three pathways on offer:

3-day Foundation level Core Skills in Coaching & Mentoring

3-Day Foundation level specialist pathway for Executive Coaches

Post-Foundation

Guildhall School has an Associate team of Executive Coaches, all of whom teach on the programme. In addition, Guildhall Associates offer coaching, leaders and professional development to support those working across a broad range of industries including education, the arts and charities sectors. Current Associates include Senior Associate and Guildhall School Coaching & Mentoring Lead Jane Booth; Senior Associate and Specialist Advisor to Guildhall School Jane Cook; professional executive coach Chris Brannick; Principal of the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama Professor Helena Gaunt; Artistic Director of the Barbican Louise Jeffreys; and Leadership Development Coach for Clore Social Leadership and Director of ARISE Academy Pat Joseph.

Guildhall School Coaching & Mentoring Lead Jane Booth commented:

Coaching and Mentoring training has had an impact across all parts of our institution. We’ve built valuable new partnerships and communities, enhancing working relationships. I’m proud to be in an institution that does so much to support its employees by encouraging this work, and we’re excited now to be sharing this transformational work more widely, so that anyone can access this training.

Applications for Autumn 2019 entry are open. Find details of how to apply on the Coaching & Mentoring pages.
