As part of the on-going events organised for Black history, EquiNet presents this thought-provoking documentary which raises difficult questions about the relationship between history, memory, representation and power.
In light of calls to decolonise culture, the film makes a series of interventions regarding the role cinema plays in shaping ideas about race – ideas which have their roots in the history of transatlantic slavery. The event includes a discussion with the film’s director Eugene Nulman (Birmingham City University).
