The Journalism Conversation Series brings you the second Conversation of the year – a screening of award-winning documentary, A Cambodian Spring.
After the screening there will be a short 30-minute break followed by a Q&A with the director Chris Kelly and the monk, Luon Sovath. Venerable Luon plays an integral role in supporting undeserving communities – and faces danger and ostracising by his own Buddhist community. In addition to discussing some of the practicalities of how Chris Kelly put his film together, we will be discussing important issues raised by the documentary: Parallels with this case study and other democratic uprisings across much of the Middle-East; imbalances of power and how we can continue to reach the truth; and the lengths that communities will go to to see justice served.
