Guildhall School of Music & Drama is delighted to announce it has been granted up to £490,000 of Leverhulme Arts Scholarships, over the next 3 years, by the Leverhulme Trust.

This includes major scholarship support for postgraduate musicians, as well as students at Junior Guildhall and Centre for Young Musicians. The grant also includes support for undergraduate musicians and for the School’s Production Arts faculty for the first time in recent years.

The breakdown of bursaries includes £195,000 for students studying on Guildhall Artist Masters and Artist Diploma programmes and £135,000 for Guildhall Young Artists, encompassing scholarships at both Junior Guildhall and Centre for Young Musicians.

Principal, Lynne Williams said: ‘I’m absolutely delighted that the Leverhulme Trust has chosen to continue to support scholarships at the Guildhall School in this way. We are determined that no student should face financial barriers to studying here, and we cannot do that without the generous support of our donors, in

particular

the Leverhulme Trust whose commitment to performing arts training is so evident. We are truly grateful for their support.’

Guildhall School is deeply committed to equality of opportunity and students are admitted solely on the basis of merit. Guildhall School aims to ensure that no student who is offered a place on merit is prevented from taking up that place on grounds of financial hardship: it awards in excess of £2million per annum, with nearly 50% of students receiving some level of financial support, thanks to a diverse body of funders such as the Leverhulme Trust.
