We are delighted to take part to the launch of a manifesto setting out policy recommendations to give art, design and creative education the capacity to continue to contribute to the wider economy.

The Culture Capital Exchange has participated to a series of discursive roundtables involving Policy Connect, the All-Party Parliamentary Design & Innovation Group (APDIG), and Council for Higher Education in Arts & Design (CHEAD), to discuss the way forward for creative higher education after Brexit. The manifesto Developing Creative Education After Brexit: A Plan for Economic Growth draws upon those discussions to ensure that one of the UK’s biggest exports and growing markets isn’t left out of the Brexit talks.

Design alone contributes over £72 billion to British economy ever year, with the creative industries playing a key role in making the country the most desirable place to study in Europe.

This manifesto, funded by CHEAD and over eighty of the UK’s leading institutions for creative education, sets out priorities for central government, universities and the private sector that ensures that the creative industries can continue to draw upon the best education and training available to ensure that Britain remains a world leader for art and design.

This cross-party and cross-sector report argues for policies that:

  • Ensure that academic research partnerships and collaboration continue on a pan-European basis
  • Put universities at the heart of regional economies and contributing to nationwide growth
  • Equip graduates with the skills employers and businesses require to face the challenges and opportunities of the future

We are delighted to announce that the manifesto will be launched with a keynote speech by the Rt Hon Matt Hancock MP, Minister of State for Culture and Digital.
