Royal Central School of Speech and Drama - University of London

The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (Central), established in 1906 and based in London, is a specialist college for the performing arts and is a Federal College of the University of London. With a vibrant international community, it is a higher education institution offering a wide range of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate degree level.

In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, Central ranked as the top drama conservatoire for world-leading research, and among the top UK universities for world-leading impact rooted in our industry-led research. In 2017, Central was awarded Gold Status – the highest level to be awarded – in the Teaching Excellence Framework.

The School is looking to appoint a Director of Innovation and Development. The successful candidate will play a leading and pivotal senior role in the furtherance of the School’s Innovation and Development Strategies. The role holder will be responsible for leading on strategic development and income generation projects and partnerships, and for leadership and oversight of the Development function including Fundraising, Alumni Management, Press and PR and Marketing.

The post will have a key role in establishing the basis for a major new building development (Phase 6 of the estate strategy), and in developing a partnership for new external examinations.

Applicants will have a successful record of identifying, cultivating, securing and retaining major donations. Significant experience of, and a demonstrable flair for, producing successful creative marketing campaigns and solutions in answer to strategic challenges are essential. The individual will have highly developed analytical skills and will be able to write comprehensive business reports, bids and tender documents.
