This talk explores Lili Boulanger’s pivotal role in changing the place of women in French music of her era and beyond. It refers in particular to the music-text interplay within her works, such as the Psalms, and details her musical development which spanned such a short life.

Dr. Helen Julia Minors is Head of Department of Music and Associate Professor of Music at Kingston University, London. She is currently the elected chair of the National Association for Music in Higher Education. Funded research projects have included: Translating Music Network (AHRC 2013–2014) and Taking Race Live (Access Funding 2015–17).
