27th November, 2017
In celebration of the launch of Tony Fisher’s Theatre and Governance in Britain, 1500-1900: Democracy, Disorder and the State (Cambridge University Press, 2017), and in anticipation of Tony Fisher and Kélina Gotman’s co-edited Theatre, Performance, Foucault! (Manchester University Press, forthcoming), Kélina and Tony will be discussing the ongoing critical importance of Foucauldian scholarship to the fields of theatre and performance studies.
They will be discussing methodological questions around the practices of critical historiography, the significance of the publication of Foucault’s lecture courses at the Collège de France, and recent turns to his writing on governmentality and critique, among others. The conversation will be informal, and conclude with a wine reception.
