The world is chaos. Political upheaval. People are scared. Random acts of violence flood the streets and yet another war is precariously looming, if those who govern tread the tiniest miss-step in leading their people.
Welcome to Thebes re-imagines a Greek classic in an eerily relevant contemporary Thebes. Is Thebes simply a setting for classical, mythological stories? Or is it closer to home? How real is it? Are we living there now, or will we be in the near future?
Aled Pedrick, Director
Aled trained as an actor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and has been fortunate enough to juggle a varied career as performer, director and writer.
As director and associate, he has worked extensively with The Welsh National Theatre, as well as Theatre Clwyd, Sherman Cymru and Shared Experience. Aled also works regularly at Guildhall, Actors’ Studio, Pinewood and Histrio House. He has also been associate director for National Youth Theatre of Wales since 2014.
