This participative workshop aims to identify best practice in the supervision of practice doctorates (professional, practice-based, industrial) and discuss it within a framework for teaching and learning.

The conversation will centre on the presentation of the handbook ‘Insights from Practice: A Handbook for supervisors of modern doctorate candidates’’, the result of a three-year Erasmus+ Project led by Middlesex University and involving a consortium of European partners. The handbook will be distributed to participants.

During the workshop the presenters will discuss the project results and facilitate a debate on how these resonate with the experience of the audience in their institutional context. The workshop will also identify challenges and opportunities ahead for the pedagogy of supervision of practice doctorates.
