DocHeads launches the second season of its critically-acclaimed programme of short documentaries with “The Past in the Present”, a collection of films that explore how our lives are shaped by the events that precede them – through secrets, mysteries, memories and myths.

Innovative, boundary-pushing and cinematic: it’s an immersive experience designed for the big screen.

DocHeads will showcase work from some of the most exciting documentary filmmakers working today.

Shot entirely on an iPhone 6, Victoria Mapplebeck’s 160 Characters brings to life the secrets buried in a vintage mobile.

Screenings will take place at the following cinemas:
7th June – Picturehouse Central
14th June – Brixton Ritzy
21st June – Hackney Picturehouse
29th June – Picturehouse Crouch End.

Each screening will feature a Q&A with one of our filmmakers, so come along and join in the discussion.

160 Characters, developed with CreativeWorks London, has won the Best Documentary Award at the 2017 Short of the Week Awards and was shortlisted for the Innovation category of the 2016 AHRC Research in Film Awards.

Victoria is Senior Lecturer at the Department of Media Arts of Royal Holloway University of London, and an award winning artist, writer and film director.
