The University of West London (UWL) has climbed 38 places to No. 58 in the Guardian University Guide 2018 – the biggest rise of any UK higher education institution, making it the Number One modern university in London and placing it in the Top Ten modern universities in the UK.
UWL has recorded dramatically improved scores across a range of quality measures to become the Number One modern university in London, in what is another outstanding success for the University in league tables for the higher education sector, this year. The latest results in the Guardian University Guide 2018 follow UWL’s excellent performance in The Complete University Guide 2018, and in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017, all of which saw the University record the highest national increase.
Welcoming the excellent news, University of West London Vice-Chancellor, Professor Peter John, said:
‘Climbing 38 places in the Guardian University Guide 2018 rankings is a brilliant achievement for the University.
‘This continuing success is testament to our ambitious and well executed strategic plan, which is underpinned by investment in infrastructure, academic staff and our curriculum – all of which is reflected in the high quality of teaching by our talented academic team.
‘We already have one of the best graduate employment rates in the country and we are in the top quartile for salaries of graduates entering full-time employment in the UK. This latest outstanding performance confirms the excellent progress the University of West London continues to make in delivering high quality, career focused education programmes which transform the lives of our students.’
The University has recently invested more than £120m across three campus sites located in Ealing, Brentford and Reading.
UWL’s strong performance has also been recently recognised elsewhere in the higher education sector, with two nominations in the prestigious Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards 2017 (THELMAs), in the categories of ‘Outstanding Leadership and Management Team’ and ‘Outstanding Strategic Planning Team’.
