Musician and archaeologist Roya Arab shares her songs of protest. Reflecting the concept of Weltschmerz, she presents a set exploring lyrical and musical despair, contemporary politics and troubled society, accompanied by images by artist Dunja Berndorff and featuring cellist Maral Mohammadi.
Since the mid-1990s, Roya has worked with bands and artists including Archive (Island Records), Grooverider, Mike Figgis and her sister, the electronic musician Leila. She studied at the UCL Institute of Archaeology before returning to music in 2010 and is currently a PhD student at City, University of London, researching the film music of Iran.
