Victoria Mapplebeck’s 160 Characters wins Best Documentary Award


Victoria Mapplebeck’s Film London smartphone short 160 Characters has just won the Best Documentary Award at the 2017 Short of the Week Awards.

Developed with CreativeWorks London and shot entirely on an iPhone 6, 160 Characters brings to life the secrets buried in a vintage Nokia.

Short of the week is a curated online film showcase. It’s curating team have programmed for the biggest film festivals including Sundance and Tribeca and their online programme of short films has reached millions around the world since it’s launch in 2007.   160 Characters launched on Short of the Week in November 2016, it subsequently received a Vimeo Staff Pick and has since received over 162,000 hits. 160 Characters was also shortlisted for the Innovation category of the 2016 AHRC Research in Film Awards

Victoria is Senior Lecturer at the Department of Media Arts of Royal Holloway University of London, and an award winning artist, writer and film director.
