Ravensbourne alumni Charlotte Regan and Jack Hannon, graduates from the BA (Hons) Digital Film Production course have had their film “Standby” nominated for Best British Short Film at the British Academy Film Awards, a ceremony ran by BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts).

“Standby” was last year selected to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), one of the largest film festivals in the world. It has screened a number of Oscar-winning films and all time classics including 12 Years a Slave, City of God, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Reservoir Dogs and Slumdog Millionaire.

The film is about the evolving relationship of police officers Gary and Jenny and the characters they meet throughout their days at work.

Ravensbourne alumni Bradley Stearn, who graduated with Charlotte and Jack on the BA (Hons) Digital Film Production course, also helped to shoot “Standby”.

Upon hearing the news Jack said: “Charlotte rang me in the morning and I thought she was playing an elaborate prank! We are both so shocked but extremely happy.

“We will never forget Ravensbourne it was the place we met and forged a fantastic working relationship. Our lecturers were a massive help and were huge influences on us. They encouraged and supported us which enable us to get where we are today.”

Charlotte and Jack have just wrapped on their next short film called “Fry-Up” starring Sian Clifford from Fleabag and have other films in the pipeline.
